The history of New Fairview Baptist Church spans for more than
a century and a half.
We are continually researching the history of NFBC and will
make our research available as it is verified.

According
to extant records New Fairview Baptist Church was formed in 1857.
The original church was called Poplar Creek Baptist Church and
was an arm of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. The church
was reorganized on the "Sabbath following the
4th Saturday in September 1857"
At the time of reorganization the name was changed to "New
Fair View Baptist Church".
The first pastor of New Fairview Baptist Church was Rev.
John Seiber of Roane County. He began pastoring the church in
1857. His salary at that time was twenty five cents a day. Of
course he was only paid on Sundays.
